Abstract

The use of seed tree with natural regeneration is the dominant method for harvesting and regenerating of pine. Natural regeneration is considered less expensive than planting with refined plant material. At the same time there are often factors that are not included when evaluating profitability. One of these factors are the seed trees influence on the regeneration. In this study I have studied how the number of seedlings and height on the regeneration varies by distance from the seed trees. Data for density and height from natural regenerations distributed between site index F11 and F14, for fields between 10 to 20 years of age in Hedmark county. I have chosen variance analysis and t-test to find statistical differences. I found that the seed tree affects the regenerations height growth up to ten metres from the seed tree’s trunk, and the density of regeneration was the lowest closest to the seed tree. It may look like soil scarification has a positive impact on height growth. My conclusion is that the seed trees should be harvested when the natural regeneration is adequate and within ten years from the final felling.

Frøtrestilling med naturlig foryngelse er den dominerende avvirknings- og foryngelsesmetoden i furu. Foryngelsesformen blir ansett som rimeligere enn for eksemplet planting med foredlet materiale. Samtidig er det ofte faktorer som det ikke alltid tas høyde for i vurderingen av lønnsomhet. En slik faktor er frøtrærnes påvirkning på foryngelsen. I oppgaven har jeg studert hvordan planteantallet og høyden på foryngelsen varierer med avstand fra frøtrærne. Det ble samlet inn data for tetthet og høyde fra foryngelse i frøtrestillinger fordelt på bonitet F11 og F14 i bestand som var mellom 10 til 20 år gamle i Hedmark. Jeg benyttet varianseanalyser og t-tester for å finne statistiske forskjeller. Jeg fant at foryngelsen under frøtrærne er påvirket i høydevekst ut til 10 meter og at tettheten er lavere nærmest frøtreet. Det kan se ut til at markberedning har en positiv effekt på høydetilvekst. Konklusjonen er at frøtrærne bør avvirkes når foryngelsen er på plass og før det har gått 10 år.
