Abstract

Den sterke veksten i studenttallet og et stort antall søkere til høyere utdanning har vært med på å øke oppmerksomheten om studiekvalitet. Et av de viktigste tiltakene for å bedre studiekvaliteten er å legge forholdene best mulig til rette for startfasen av studiene. Som et ledd i å øke kunnskapsgrunnlaget for å bedre studieforholdene for begynnerstudentene, har Universitetet i Oslo initiert denne undersøkelsen blant studentene på examen philosophicum. Prosjektet gir et bredt bilde av begynnerstudenten, hvilke problemer de møter, og hvordan de tilpasser seg universitetenes tilbud. Resultatene fra prosjektet blir presentert i to deler. I denne rapporten fokuseres det på hvordan begynnerstudentene er tilknyttet universitetet, hvordan de gjør det til examen philosophicum og hvor mye tid de bruker på henholdsvis examen philosophicum og fagstudiet. I et U-notat, som er utarbeidet av Jens Are Enoksen, fokuseres det for det første på noen av de faglige og sosiale problemer begynnerstudentene opplever i overgangen mellom videregående skole og universitetet. For det andre fokuseres det på begynnerstudentenes bruk og vurdering av universitets ulike informasjonstiltak. Det planlegges nå en oppfølgingsundersøkelse av examen philosophicum studentene fra 1993 to år etter studiestart.
