Phytophthora ramorum angrip skogen på vestkysten av England

Abstract

I 2009 vart det oppdaga at Phytophthora ramorum er årsak til massedød av japanlerk (Larix kaempferi) i sørvest England. Også andre treartar som veks under eller nær infisert japanlerk vert ramma. Epidemien spreier seg til stadig nye område, infisert lerk vert no funnen nordover langs heile vestkysten av England og inn i Skottland. Også øya Man og Nord-Irland er ramma. Ein reknar med at epidemien har sitt utspring frå undervegetasjon av sjuk rododendron, som i si tid har vorte smitta frå grøntanlegg.
