Musikk i spesialundervisning.

Authors: Hildonen, Thomas;

Musikk i spesialundervisning.

Abstract

English: This thesis is concerned with the use of music in special education in elementary school. An elementary school in Hedmark has been sampled through stratified selection as the object of research and gathering of evidence. The thesis seeks to highlight the functions song and music applied as tools have, and can have, in the process of developing pupils with special needs and challenges. The thesis has a theoretical background containing music therapy, music and identity, socialization, inclusion and integration, adapted education, special education, and music in the context of special education. With this foundation, the findings are collected through qualitative method; observation of four lessons and a written interview administered to three informants. The research shows that the section concerned with special education at said school to a large degree uses music applied as tools in their daily conduct, both in lessons with the entire class and in individual tutoring. The lessons do in part intentionally coincide with the presented theory, while other parts do so unintentionally.
