Mot et ikke-diskriminerende sosialt arbeid

Abstract

I denne artikkelen er kjønnslikestilling som verdi og væremåte utgangspunkt for en diskusjon om sosialt arbeid som viktig instans i realiseringen av et inkluderende samfunn. Vi analyserer arbeid med minoritetsetniske menn. Datamaterialet bygger på intervjuer og deltakende observasjon under feltarbeid ved to utdanningsinstitusjoner. I artikkelen konkretiseres funn i materialet ved hjelp av to eksemplariske case. Vi viser hvordan diskurser om sosialt arbeids verdier, om kjønnslikestilling og om minoritetsetniske menn veves sammen. Viktige funn er tendenser til stereotypisering og dikotomisering mellom «dem» og «oss», men også at andre tenkemåter som for eksempel innebærer anerkjennelse av ulikhet kan introduseres. De funnene vi har gjort peker mot utfordringer og muligheter for et (enda) mer ikkediskriminerende sosialt arbeid.
