Abstract

The project summarizes experiences and results in capturing cod and haddock for capture-based aquaculture (CBA) by purse-seine. Our recommendations are: • Purse-seine can become important for CBA in terms of improved quality, volume, value and welfare. • Demersal species like cod and haddock are rarely accessible for purse-seine. • With individual vessel-quotas a controlled fishery with purse-seine seems possible. • Purse-sein is a non-selective gear and by-catch of under-sizes fish may be a challenge if not utilizes in CBA?
