Abstract

For å kunne øke trivselen hos pasienter med Alzheimers sykdom har vi valgt kommunikasjon som metode, og tar derfor for oss de ulike kommunikasjonsmetodene validering, reminisens og realitetsorientering. For å utøve god kommunikasjon, har vi sett at kunnskaper om pasientens livshistorie er viktig. Å ha kunnskaper om dette, bidrar til gode kommunikasjonsferdigheter og god personsentrert omsorg. Personsentrert omsorg viser å ha effekt på pasientens trivsel, da pasienten blir verdsatt og akseptert som et menneske. Pasienten blir også myndiggjort, hans individuelle behov blir vektlagt og det blir tilrettelagt for sosialt samvær med andre. Vi benytter oss av Joyce Travelbee som sykepleieteoretiker, og baserer oppgaven på hennes teori. Hun mener at det må skapes relasjoner mellom sykepleier og pasient, for å hjelpe pasienten med Alzheimers sykdom å finne mening i sin situasjon. Dette er med på å fremme trivsel.
