Abstract

På bakgrunn av forsuringssituasjonen i Bjerkreimsvassdraget i Rogaland er det utarbeidet en kalkingsplan for å bedre forholdene for laksen i elva. Vassdraget foreslås kalket ved en kombinasjon av innsjøkalking og dosererkalking. Ørsdalsvatn og Austrumdalsvatn anbefales kalket, samtidig som det settes opp en elektrisk, vannføringsstyrt doserer ved utløpet av Byrkjelandsvatn og en elektrisk pH-styrt doserer i hovedelva ved Gjerdrem etter samløp med Ørsdalsgrenen. Det vil totalt være behov for omlag 11 000 tonn kalk det første året og siden omlag 4500 tonn årlig for å vedlikeholde vannkvaliteten i vassdraget. For hele kalkingsprosjektet (både innsjøkalking og dosererkalking) er kostnadene det første året anslått til kr 11.2 mill. kr. Dette inkluderer både investeringsutgifter og driftsutgifter. Senere er de årlige driftsutgiftene anslått til ca 3.7 mill. kr.
