Abstract

Forsøk med eksponering av laksesmolt på et antall stasjoner i Vossovassdraget påviste tildels omfattende vannkvalitetsproblemer. Med unntak av en stasjon (Strandaelva), ble det påvist enten dødelighet, eller tap av klorid fra fiskens blodplasma, ved samtlige stasjoner etter 14 dagers eksponering. Dødelighet og tap av blodålasma klorid varierte mellom stasjonene, men var størst på stasjoner mest påvirket av surt vann (Teigdalselva). I Teigdalselva ble det observert død fisk i elva perioden før forsøksstart. Testing av laksesmoltens evne til å tolerere sjøvann ved bruk av en 24-timers sjøvannstest (34.5%) viste enda sterkere den negative påvirkningen fra vannkvaliteten. Mens all fisk fra Strandaelva overlevde, var det dødelighet ved alle andre stasjoner.
