Forsuring og tungmetallforurensning i grenseområdene Norge/Russland. Vannkjemiske undersøkelser 1986-1992

Abstract

Svovelbelastningen overskrider tålegrensen for ferskvann i 70% av Sør-Varangers areal. Overvåkingen fra 1986 til 1992 viser en stabil forsuringssituasjon, men modellberegninger viser at forsuringen vil tilta de kommende tiår hvis svoveldeposisjonen ikke reduseres. For å få en varig beskyttelse av innsjøer og elver i Sør-Varanger mot surt nedfall bør svoveldeposisjonen reduseres med mint 75%. - Innholdet av nikkel er betenkelig høyt i mange vannforekomster, og det er sannsynlig at man i enkelte områder har giftvirkninger på følsomme arter av vannboende organismer.
