Abstract

Det foreligger planer om å etablere et større oppdrettsanlegg for laks på sørsiden av Varaldsøy i Hardanger. I denne sammenheng har NIVA foretatt målinger av strøm og hydrografi i det aktuelle området. Kraftig brakkvannsinnslag og markert sprangsjikt vil tidvis kunne innvirke negativt på laksen i merdene. Eksponeringsgrad og bunntopografi tilsier bruk av kraftig forankring. For øvrig konkluderes det med at lokaliteten er godt egnet for oppdrett.
