Abstract

Undersøkelsen omfatter overvåking av Drammenselva nedenfor Tyrifjorden. Øverst i Drammenselva var det moderat næringsrike forhold og den hygieniske vannkvaliteten var den klart beste i hele elva. Veksten av sopp og bakterier (heterotrof vekst) som tidligere har vært registrert nedenfor Katfoss var forsvunnet. Denne bedringen skyldes bl. a. nedleggelsen av Katfoss fabrikker. Fra Åmodt ned til utløpet i sjøen har det vært markert minsking av organisk stoff fra 1980. Denne forbedringen av vannkvaliteten må antas å skyldes nedleggelse av treforedlingsbedrifter. Det var en markert øking av totalfosfor ved Drammen. Elvas nedre del var betydelig til sterkt forurenset av tarmbakterier.
