Øvre Otra. Samspill forsuring - regulering på strekningen Hartevatn - Sarvsfoss

Abstract

Øvre Otra er sterkt regulert for produksjon av vannkraft. Fra juni 1982 ble strekningen Hartevatn-Sarvsfoss "tørrlagt". Otravannet blir ført gjennom tunnel-systemer og "takrenner" utenfor elveleiet. På denne strekningen domineres elven av tilrenningen fra sidebekkene. Dette vannet har lavere pH og alkalitet enn Otra ved Hartevatn. Våren 1981 ble forsuringstilstanden i sidebekkene undersøkt. Beregninger indikerer at etter reguleringen vil pH i Otra ved Hoslemo kunne bli så lav som pH 5.4. Før reguleringen var pH 6.2- 6.4. Vannkvaliteten etter reguleringen vil ligge nær, men fortsatt over grensen for skade-effekter på fisk
