Abstract

Begrepet mikroøkonometri benyttes ofte til å betegne kombinasjonen av mikroøkonomisk modellering, tilhørende metoder for statistisk inferens, samt empiriske anvendelser basert på mikrodata. James Heckman og Daniel McFadden har hatt helt sentrale roller i utviklingen av mikroøkonometrien de siste 30 årene. Heckman har arbeidet mye med seleksjonsproblemer som oppstår i ulike varianter når observasjoner fra et utvalg av aktører avhenger av aktørenes valg. McFadden er mest kjent for sitt bidrag til utviklingen av metoder for analyse av aktørers valg blant diskrete alternativer, dvs. når settet av tilgjengelige alternativer er endelig. Denne artikkelen gir en oversikt over de sentrale idéene i deres arbeid.
