Fra soldater av folket til soldater for staten

Abstract

Artikkelen sporer et skifte i diskursen om den norske soldaten – fra fredlig forsvarer av nasjonen til statens redskap for ytterligere alliansemessig integrering. Formålet med artikkelen er å illustrere hvordan soldatens identitet er en konstruksjon basert på samtidig kontekstuell endring: Hvordan artikuleres soldatens identitet og hvilke representasjoner av soldaten ligger til grunn for denne artikulasjonen? Det vil si, hvilke modell(er) av den profesjonelle soldaten brukes som utgangspunkt for å forstå det å være soldat, og hvordan kan denne meningskonstruksjonen sees i lys av historisk endring og behovet for nye legitimeringsregimer? Artikkelen bygger på intervjuer med norske profesjonelle soldater gjort i 2005, og gir således et bilde av hvor raskt globale endringer forårsaker lokal institusjonell tilpasning.
