Fluktasjoner i Norges bytteforhold : en komparativ analyse

Abstract

Hovedmålsetningen for denne masterutredningen er å belyse og forklare utviklingen av Norges bytteforhold for tidsperioden 1970 frem til i dag. Vi analyserer Norges bytteforhold og anlegger et komparativt perspektiv hvor vi sammenligner utviklingen med den i Australia, Canada og Sverige. Innledningsvis tar vi for oss den senere tids utvikling i internasjonal handel. Eksport- og importmønster tillegges særskilt vekt. I kapittel 2 foretar vi en gjennomgang av de utvalgte landene med fokus på eksportstrukturen. Deretter presenterer vi en normativ modell for hvordan endringer i et lands ressursformue bør påvirke næringsstrukturen, sektorvis allokering av arbeidskraft og konsum. Modellanalysen fanger således opp effekten av endringer i bytteforhold gjennom endring i den aktuelle ressursprisen. Videre vil vi analysere den virkning enkelte eksportvarepriser har på bytteforholdet ved å benytte grafiske fremstillinger og enkle OLS-regresjoner. Modellens implikasjoner vil deretter relateres til empirisk data i analysen. Det blir naturlig å fokusere særskilt på oljepris i Norges tilfelle. Vi konkluderer med at en endring av oljepris har en forklaringskraft på hele 79,71 % for endring av norsk bytteforhold, for tidsperioden 1978-2007. Avslutningsvis vil vi drøfte andre makroøkonomiske effekter av bytteforholds forbedringer i Norges tilfelle.
