Beredskap i Nordområdene

Abstract

Denne oppgaven omhandler den norske beredskapen i Nordområdene. Dette området opplever økt interesse internasjonalt på grunn av de store mengdene ressurser som finnes i Arktis. Området har gått fra å ha et sikkerhetspolitisk fokus under den kalde krigen til å bli et energipolitisk kraftsentrum. Dette er også blitt tatt høyde for nasjonalt da regjeringen har uttalt at nordområdene er Norges viktigste strategiske satsningsområde i årene som kommer. Fokuset både nasjonalt og internasjonalt, fører til en økende maritim aktivitet i nord, som blant annet består av tankere og annen risikotrafikk. De norske områdene nord for polarsirkelen inneholder store mengder marine ressurser og regnes som sårbare. Den økende skipstrafikken i nordområdene fører til en økt risiko for skipsulykker og potensielle miljøkatastrofer. En god preventiv beredskap er derfor viktig for å møte utfordringene som den økende risikoen fører til. Dette er for å sikre at økende industriell aktivitet ikke går på bekostning av miljøet.
