Idégrunnlag i kommunalt psykisk helsearbeid

Abstract

English: This study is part of a research collaboration project between Hedmark University College and the Municipality of Hamar: Promotive and preventive mental health work in the local community. The draft is a result of conversations concerning basic values in mental health work in Hamar. Data is created on the basis of three focus group interviews with users and interdisciplinary professionals (n=16) during November -02 through April -03. Data was analysed by means of qualitative content analysis. The results highlight knowledge as a central value in mental health work. This knowledge consists of a combination of professional knowledge and the users’ experiential knowledge. The user must actively participate in the planning of the services. A continuing dialogue between professionals, users and user organisations is a presupposition in order to keep the knowledge updated. The written basic values are considered to serve as a guide in the work. In order to implement the values, they have to be rediscovered by employees and users and actualised in everyday work. A necessary requirement for the basic values to function according to their intention is interdisciplinary and intersectoral collaboration.
