Halitose - adem met een luchtje

Abstract

Halitose is een probleem waarvan ongeveer een derde van de mensen in meer of mindere mate last heeft. De oorzaak van het probleem ligt meestal in de mond en het is de taak van de mondhygiënist en tandarts dit te diagnosticeren en deze patiënten te behandelen. Dit artikel beschrijft de verschillende oorzaken die ten grondslag liggen aan slechte ademgeur en welke rol bacteriën hierin spelen. Verder passeren de verschillende meetmethoden de revue om tot een diagnose te komen, zodat een adequate behandeling mogelijk is en welke mogelijkheden daarvoor beschikbaar zijn.
