Abstract

Lean Six Sigma is de culminatie van ontwikkelingen in kwaliteitsverbetering in de 20ste eeuw. Het combineert belangrijke principes en technieken in een goed gestructureerde en geïntegreerde benadering. Het belichaamt wetenschappelijke inzichten over onderzoeksmethodologie, management en economie. In de 21ste eeuw is het niet meer voldoende een goede vakman te zijn. Professionals hebben analysevaardigheden nodig voor rationeel beslissen en probleemoplossen. Net als in de industrie blijkt ook in de dienstverlening en de gezondheidszorg substantiële verbetering van effectiviteit en efficiëntie mogelijk te zijn. Voor het uitvoeren van verbeterprojecten biedt Lean Six Sigma de zogenaamde DMAIC-methodiek, die uitgebreid wordt behandeld. Het boek bespreekt daarnaast hoe Lean Six Sigma kan worden ingevoerd in een organisatie. Dit boek is van belang voor managers die overwegen om Lean Six Sigma te implementeren in hun organisatie. Verder is dit boek van belang voor potentiële projectleiders die zich willen oriënteren op de verbetermethode. Tot slot dient dit boek als praktische handleiding voor projectleiders.
