La construcción discursiva del suicidio en los debates de la prensa porfirista. El caso Salvador Castellot, 1878-1880

Abstract

La pertinencia historiográfica de la investigación radica en analizar los discursos de confrontación que surgen en enero de 1878 entre el diario católico La Voz de México, y el positivista La Libertad, a partir del suicidio del egresado de la Escuela Nacional Preparatoria Salvador Castellot a finales de 1877. El trabajo se concentra en estudiar críticamente los estilos, mensajes, palabras y temáticas narradas de acuerdo con todos los argumentos médicos y filosóficos manejados en la prensa de opinión de la época, siguiendo la propuesta de la teoría crítica de los discursos, es decir partiendo de los elementos que estructuran el discurso para entender la forma en cómo construye un objeto a partir de una realidad discursiva. Utilizando herramientas historiográficas se proponen nuevas formas de explicar al lector el problema del suicidio, desde su dimensión discursiva, recuperadas del conflicto entre estos diarios de tendencias doctrinarias y políticas contrarias, y en el contexto del legado de las reformas constitucionales, las políticas de secularización y el positivismo como base de la enseñanza pública a inicios del Porfiriato.
