Abstract

Recuperación del sulfato de aluminio de los lodos provenientes de un tratamiento primario avanzado El sulfato de aluminio es comúnmente empleado en los procesos de coagulación- floculación para remover sólidos suspendidos del agua residual. Este compuesto al ser adicionado al agua se convierte en hidróxido de aluminio, y por las características anfóteras del aluminio es posible su disolución, para ser reciclado nuevamente en el proceso de tratamiento. Reciclar el sulfato de aluminio a partir del precipitado generado en el tratamiento (conocido como lodo), se presenta como una opción para abatir los costos de operación y disminuir la cantidad de lodo a ser dispuesta, y, para el caso de México resulta especialmente atractivo porque éste coagulante es ampliamente utilizado en el tratamiento del agua.
