Caminando hacia la calidad de vida

Abstract

La calidad de vida se ha convertido en una premisa ineludible dentro de la intervención con las personas que tienen alguna discapacidad intelectual, pero debe ir acompañada no sólo de atención y cuidados, sino también de la autodeterminación de la persona. Las autoras de este estudio analizan la calidad de vida y la autodeterminación de las personas atendidas en un centro ocupacional, definen la planificación centrada en la familia y los instrumentos para el diseño de propuestas formativas dirigidas a los profesionales y familias. Como aspectos positivos, destacan el alto grado de autonomía ligado al cuidado personal y las tareas simples de la vida diaria; la satisfacción de los usuarios con la familia, el trabajo, los amigos, los compañeros de trabajo; y el hecho de que se sienten acompañados. No obstante, también observan que los niveles de integración y socialización con el exterior son muy bajos, o que, en la toma de decisiones, estos usuarios dependen de terceras personas, el centro o las familias, siendo muy pocos quienes piensan en su futuro personal o laboral.
