Abstract

Se analiza la fundación del Instituto Elemental Pedro Espinosa en 1928 y la semblanza del poeta barroco que le da nombre. Seguidamente, se hace referencia al material científico y bibliográfico que pasa al Instituto, Nacional desde 1934, procedente del Colegio San Luis Gonzaga, centro local de enseñanza secundaria que había sido creado en 1871. El patrimonio histórico pedagógico del centro, material didáctico de Física y de Ciencias Naturales, cartografía y libros antiguos, ha sido cuidadosamente catalogado por el profesorado de los distintos departamentos.
