Abstract

Por la Resolución 2951 en 1972 se crea la Universidad de las Naciones Unidas, bajo el patrocinio conjunto de la ONU y la Unesco. Seguidamente, en 1973 y a través de la Resolución 3081, se crean los estatutos de dicha Universidad. El objetivo es poner a disposición de profesores e investigadores un foro académico para discutir sus problemas comunes, desarrollar nuevas metodologías para fomentar la investigación en torno a la educación. Los programas y contenidos que desarrolla la Universidad: relaciones internacionales y la paz; problemas mundiales relativos al desarrollo, utilización de recursos naturales, comercio, desarrollo rural y urbano; el entorno y los efectos sobre él de la ciencia y la técnica; establecer relaciones entre sabios de países desarrollados y en vías de desarrollo; promover por los centros de educación los objetivos de la Carta de las Naciones Unidas. Los idiomas en los que se habla serán los mismos que en la ONU. Su estructura se compone de: 1. Consejo, Rector y Centro de coordinación y programación. 2. Centros de investigación y formación. 3. Instituciones afiliadas al centro de coordinación y programación. Se financiará mediante contribuciones voluntarias hechas por los gobiernos participantes y por fuentes no gubernamentales. La sede se establece en Tokyo.
