El autoconcepto físico durante el ciclo vital

Abstract

A través de una muestra de 1259 individuos de la Comunidad Autónoma del País Vasco, estructurados en cuatro rangos etarios (adolescencia, juventud, edad adulta y personas mayores) y con distinción de género, se pretende analizar la evolución del autoconcepto físico durante el ciclo vital. Para ello se utiliza como instrumento un cuestionario que atiende a recabar información sobre cuatro dimensiones o subdominios: competencia deportiva, atractivo físico, fuerza física y condición física; siendo la autovaloración física general la intermediaria en la relación de estas cuatro dimensiones con la autoestima. Los resultados obtenidos, con dependencia del género, denotan una mejora del autoconcepto físico general en la mujer a medida que avanza el rango de edad, mientras que este disminuye en los hombres..
