Latinos en EE.UU. : desarrollando la competencia comunicativa intercultural

Abstract

Tanto sociólogos como lingüistas afirman que el hecho de que los EE.UU., potencia mundial número uno, se hayan convertido en el cuarto país hispanohablante, sirve para identificar a los latinos de este país como una comunidad de gran influencia sobre el resto de países hispanohablantes en cuanto a aspectos comerciales, políticos, sociales, culturales y lingüísticos. El español se viene enseñando en los EE.UU. desde la época colonial, pero ha sido recientemente cuando se ha empezado a crear material didáctico especialmente diseñado para los Latinos. Los manuales de E-LE europeos no solían elaborarse teniendo en cuenta las particularidades culturales y lingüísticas de los países latinoamericanos, y todavía hoy sigue habiendo una carencia divulgativa casi absoluta sobre la comunidad hispanohablante de los EE.UU. Se proporciona a los profesores una selección de materiales didácticos, con el fin de desarrollar la competencia comunicativa intercultural de los estudiantes de E-E, presentando el caso concreto de los latinos en EE.UU.
