Abstract

La sociedad occidental ha experimentado cambios fundamentales tras las dos guerras mundiales, que afectan a todos los órdenes. En lo que respecta a los valores del ser humano, parece que la destrucción, el horror y el desasosiego de la guerra le han llevado a un deseo de vivir acelerado, y a un cierto vacío. De este modo se constata como es en esta época en la que precisamente el hombre se conoce menos a si mismo. Esto le lleva a no saber gestionar de forma adecuada su tiempo libre. Se busca la diversión en lo excéntrico, en modas pasajeras, en grupos urbanos determinados, lo cual no es más que una forma de enajenación de la propia vida. Paradójicamente, el progreso de la técnica y el maquinismo permite proporcionar más horas de tiempo libre. Por ello debe considerarse que hacer un uso adecuado de las horas de ocio debe ser uno de los planteamientos principales de la educación. Sin embargo esto siquiera se ha planteado, ni en el seno de la familia, ni en los centros educativos, pese a que no se puede hablar de una educación completa sin cultivo de la personalidad y sin sentido moral y religioso. Es necesario un cambio de perspectiva ya que un tiempo libre bien utilizado contribuye a unas buenas facultades físicas, morales e intelectuales.
