Clase social, género y desigualdad de oportunidades educativas

Abstract

Se centra en la relación entre clase social, género y desigualdad de oportunidades educativas (DOE), con datos de varios años de la Encuesta de Población Activa (de 1977 a 2004). Durante este período, la DOE es más o menos constante para los varones, aunque se reduce para las mujeres. Es difícil dar cuenta de estos resultados mediante las políticas educativas, pues las reformas comprensivas (LGE y LOGSE) no han afectado a la DOE; cuando disminuyen las becas, en los noventa, disminuye la DOE ligeramente para los varones y drásticamente para las mujeres; y, durante todo el período, ha aumentado el gasto público en educación por estudiante. Se intentan explicar estos hallazgos tanto con la teoría de la acción racional como con la teoría de la reproducción social .La conclusión final es que la teoría de la elección racional se ajusta mejor a la evidencia empírica disponible.
