Sobreeducación y movilidad laboral

Abstract

Se analiza la influencia de las situaciones de sobreeducación en la movilidad laboral inicial. El trabajo se inicia con la exposición de las imágenes alternativas que, sobre la relación entre educación y movilidad laboral, proporcionan la perspectiva del capital humano y la perspectiva credencialista. El análisis empírico se basa en observaciones obtenidas por medio de una encuesta de carácter longitudinal que reconstruye la historia laboral de una muestra de jóvenes. Por medio de técnicas de regresión logística y de modelos de Cox de riesgos proporcionales, se analiza la influencia de la sobreeducación y de otras variables independientes en la movilidad entre empresas (movilidad externa) y en la movilidad que tiene lugar en el interior de las empresas (movilidad interna o promocional). Los resultados indican que las situaciones de sobreeducación afectan a un gran número de jóvenes y que tienden a mantenerse a lo largo del tiempo, pese a los cambios de empleo o a la acumulación de experiencia laboral. En relación a la movilidad interna, la situación de sobreeducación no constituye una característica que influya positivamente en los ascensos. En este tipo de movilidad intervendrían fundamentalmente factores estructurales.
