Abstract

Un ecosistema es una zona geográfica donde plantas,animales, microorganismos, el paisaje y el clima interactúan. La totalidad de la superficie de la Tierra se puede considerar como un mosaico de ecosistemas interconectados. Se comparan los cambios climáticos y atmosféricos producidos en nuestro planeta hace millones de años, y que ocasionaron la extinción en masa de formas de vida, con los devastadores episodios que se viven actualmente, como la corriente de El Niño. Al final del libro hay una pequeña bibliografía y direcciones de páginas web.
