Fermín Canella, el olvidado organizador del Viaje Americanista de la Universidad de Oviedo : (1909-1910)

Abstract

Los objetivos de esta investigación han sido: por un lado, analizar los motivos por los que la historiografía, hasta el momento, ha excluido de la memoria histórica del Viaje Americanista la figura del rector de la Universidad de Oviedo, Fermín Canella; por otro lado, revisar la validez de los tópicos heredados acerca de esta iniciativa, realizada entre 1909 y 1910, e inscrita en el proyecto intelectual de los profesores que integraron el Grupo de Oviedo, reconsiderando el papel que en esta empresa tuvo Canella, tanto en la organización como en el desarrollo del proyecto, materializado en el respaldo activo a la labor de Rafael Altamira.
