Los libros escolares de lectura extensiva y literaria

Abstract

Enseñar a leer ha sido un objetivo fundamental de la institución escolar desde su origen. Fomentar el hábito de la lectura es, sin embargo, una vieja aspiración insatisfecha a pesar de los deseos expresados en todas las regulaciones legales de la enseñanza y de las renovadas innovaciones que introducen. Este anhelo truncado arranca, posiblemente, de la práctica de la lectura como actividad obligada y dirigida, especialmente en el primer nivel de enseñanza, cuando los escolares leen y consumen lo que los adultos deciden. Se abordan en este artículo las posibles razones que mueven a los adultos a pronunciarse sobre las lecturas de los escolares. Se analizan, desde 1936, las decisiones políticas reflejadas en la normativa legal y las recomendaciones sugeridas desde la bibliografía pedagógica a los docentes del primer nivel del sistema educativo.
