Precariedad y segmentación laboral : inmigrantes versus trabajadores nacionales

Abstract

La última reforma laboral tiene como reto el fomento de la contratación indefinida, con objeto de disminuir la temporalidad en España. Este fenómeno afecta en mayor medida a los colectivos de jóvenes, mujeres e inmigrantes. En relación al último grupo, se observa que casi la mitad de los trabajadores extranjeros son precarios, con una tasa de temporalidad en torno a 20 puntos porcentuales por encima de la relativa a los nacionales. Este hecho es importante económicamente, dado que la aportación y la integración de los inmigrantes depende de su papel en nuestro mercado laboral y, particularmente, de la calidad de sus empleos. En este trabajo se arroja evidencia empírica sobre el tema, centrándonos en la comparación de los trabajadores inmigrantes con los nacionales, a fin de destacar diferencias en cuanto a su precariedad laboral. Así, se evalúan y cuantifican los factores influyentes sobre la temporalidad de los dos grupos de trabajadores, distinguiendo por tipo de contrato temporal. Con ello se desea detectar si la trampa de la temporalidad, ubicada en determinadas figuras contractuales de gran precariedad, afecta en mayor medida a la población inmigrante. Para lograr este objetivo se utilizan datos de las últimas olas de la EPA (INE 2005-2006).
