El clima escolar

Abstract

La mayoría de los investigadores coinciden en que el clima escolar, esencialmente, refleja la experiencia subjetiva de la escuela y es el resultado de un conjunto complejo de elementos que interactúan. Sus elementos constitutivos serían: el medio ambiente; las estructuras; la seguridad personal; la enseñanza y el aprendizaje; las relaciones interpersonales; el sentido de pertenencia a una comunidad escolar; la moral colectiva; las normas entre iguales y los vínculos entre la escuela y las familias. El clima permite distinguir claramente unas organizaciones de otras y es una característica relativamente duradera y estable en el tiempo. La percepción de sentirse miembro de una comunidad es un predictor de los resultados académicos y de la salud de los adolescentes. Además, es un factor protector respecto de conductas de riesgo en materia sexual, de adicciones e incluso de violencia. Por otro lado, existe una relación sólida entre el clima escolar y el absentismo escolar, así como con los expedientes disciplinarios. Un clima escolar positivo promueve el aprendizaje cooperativo, la cohesión de grupo, el respeto y la confianza mutua.
