Abstract

Descripción de los cambios que se debaten sobre educación en España, causados, principalmente, por las transformaciones que está sufriendo la sociedad. Se está creando una estructura social más compleja y fragmentada que requiere una transformación de la educación que dé cabida a factores como la diversificación étnica o la gran pluralidad de formas de convivencia. La sociedad pide una escuela capaz de adaptarse a todos estos cambios, ya que, cada vez más, casi todas las actividades sociales tienen componentes formativos que generan conocimiento. La educación es un espacio de selección y de socialización en el que se dan las mismas oportunidades a todos, aunque el resultado final sea desigual. Aún así, sigue habiendo conflictos en la escuela entre la selección por origen familiar y la selección social por adquisición de méritos. Se enfrentan la visión competitiva y mercantilizadora de la educación con la búsqueda de soluciones para estos problemas que pasan por la consecución de una escuela más vinculada al servicio público, más cooperativa. Se plantean estos y otros temas en el Fòrum Social per l'Educació a Catalunya.
