Abstract

El presente artículo pretende reflexionar acerca de un valor a la baja, como es el caso de la lectura, en un contexto educativo en el que sigue teniendo cabida, con excesivo peso específico todavía, el libro de texto. Los escolares de todos los niveles educativos, pero preferentemente los de Primaria y Secundaria por ser los niveles en los que se asientan las bases de tdodo el saber posterior, apenas leen por diversión. El poco tiempo que disponen prefieren dedicarlo a estar con los amigos o jugar al ordenador. Lo poco que leen adquiere una función utilitaria: estudiar para aprobar. Por otro lado, con la Reforma Educativa casi se anunció la desaparición del libro de texto, por cuanto se abría ante los profesionales de la educación un currículo nuevo, que podían construir a su antojo. El mercado editorial, con enormes intereses comerciales de por medio, se ha encargado de camuflar como novedoso el uso (y abuso) del libro de texto, que apenas incluyen lecturas re-creativas (que dado el caso constituyen otro libro que también se vende), siendo en términos generales el único material didáctico que los alumnos empiezan y terminan.
