Learning with respect : a Mapuche cultural value

Abstract

Se estudia el valor del respeto, parte del modelo LOPI (Learning by Observing and Pitching In), hacia los seres vivos no humanos en las interacciones grupales de niñas mapuche. Se trata de un trabajo de tipo etnográfico, basado en observaciones sistemáticas de la vida cotidiana en el espacio escolar, que se desarrolla en tres escuelas rurales de la región de La Araucanía, en la zona sur de Chile. La unidad de análisis es un escenario que involucra actividades realizadas por los niños que corresponde a una situación natural informal (recreo). Se registra en notas de campo y videos, que son codificados y analizados por tres investigadoras. Se constata que las niñas reproducen las maneras propias de interacción de la cultura mapuche expresadas en el respeto y cuidado del insecto como ser vivo no humano en el espacio escolar informal. Se observa coherencia entre el modelo LOPI y componentes epistémicos y ontológicos del modelo educativo mapuche, como la formación de personas y la participación activa de los niños en las actividades de la comunidad para aprender las formas de interrelacionarse con base en el respeto.
