Trabajando interactivamente con series de Fourier y trigonométricas

Abstract

Muchos fenómenos naturales tienen un carácter periódico y oscilante. Las series de Fourier y, en general, las series trigonométricas constituyen una excelente herramienta para el estudio de dichos procesos y tienen numerosas aplicaciones en la ingeniería: análisis de vibraciones, acústica, óptica, electrónica, economía, medicina, procesamiento de imágenes y señales, compresión de datos, etc. Se trata de descomponer una señal periódica en términos de señales periódicas básicas cuyas frecuencias son múltiplos de la señal original. En este trabajo presentamos un laboratorio virtual desarrollado como una interfaz gráfica de usuario de Matlab y una propuesta metodológica para el estudio de las propiedades de este tipo de series, tanto desde un punto de vista analítico como gráfico, con el objetivo de que los alumnos puedan afianzar sus conocimientos sobre el tema.
