El infinito en Bachillerato

Abstract

En el currículo LOE vigente se huye de la mención explícita del término infinito. Sin embargo, el concepto de infinito está detrás de casi todos los apartados en los que se divide el currículo en ambos cursos de Bachillerato. Se presenta un estudio de campo acerca de la capacidad de un grupo de alumnos de ESO y Bachillerato para comprender conceptos relacionados con el aspecto aritmético del infinito. Se expone a dichos alumnos en una sesión de una hora una demostración de que el cardinal de R es superior al de N, es decir, la existencia de infinitos más grandes que otros. Se analizan los resultados de comprensión de la exposición mediante un conjunto de respuestas a preguntas que les serán planteadas antes y después de la misma. El trabajo se estructura de la siguiente manera: un capítulo introductorio a la idea de infinito desde un punto de vista divulgativo, resaltando la relación directa de dicha idea con múltiples nociones matemáticas básicas. A continuación se expone y analiza el tratamiento del concepto de infinito en el currículo del Bachillerato vigente. Se finaliza con un capítulo dedicado a la exposición y análisis del experimento realizado de manera detallada.
