Posibilidades y limitaciones del cuaderno escolar como material curricular : un estudio de caso

Abstract

Los cuadernos escolares emergen como fuentes documentales ricas, diversas, válidas y necesarias para ampliar y completar los estudios inscritos en tres campos de investigación que entrecruzan sus caminos, como son la historia de la infancia, la historia de la educación y la cultura escrita. A pesar de tratarse de una fuente documental compleja desde varios y distintos puntos de vista, intrínsecos y extrínsecos, la información que proporciona es inigualable debido a su creación de la mano de alumnos (y maestros, en su caso), literal y exclusivamente, y por tanto, a su cualidad de producto interno nacido en la escuela. En este sentido, se pretende mostrar y describir cuadernos escolares del pasado, pertenecientes a una extensa donación depositada en el Centro de Investigación MANES; explicar el valor del cuaderno escolar como fuente documental para estudiosos de diversas disciplinas incluidas en el campo de la Educación y otras cercanas, en especial los resultados de este estudio de caso; y reflexionar sobre las posibilidades y limitaciones, sobre el presente y el futuro del cuaderno escolar como material curricular en función de lo aprendido sobre su función, su valor y su uso en el pasado.
