Integración del alumnado inmigrante : obstáculos y propuestas

Abstract

Se analiza la situación del alumnado inmigrante en el Estado español, con ciertos matices relativos al País Vasco. Tras mostrar los porcentajes de alumnado extranjero en las aulas y su origen, se hace una llamada de atención sobre varios obstáculos que dificultan la integración de estos alumnos en la escuela. Estos problemas son los relativos a: la mayor escolarización en centros públicos, las dificultades con el idioma o idiomas de la escuela, el peor rendimiento académico, el endurecimiento de la legislación sobre inmigrantes, la deficiente atención a las lenguas y culturas de origen, la existencia de un fondo de rechazo respecto a la presencia del alumnado inmigrante en el aula y las carencias en la formación del profesorado que se ocupa de estos alumnos. En este sentido, se defiende que estas dificultades que conducen a una situación problemática de escolarización del alumnado inmigrante, entre la asimilación y la marginación deben ser combatidas con el fin de conseguir una plena integración de dichos alumnos. Para ello, se ofrece, finalmente, una serie de recomendaciones y cambios que deben producirse en el ámbito educativo.
