El rendimiento escolar y sus contextos

Abstract

El autor del trabajo analiza los diferentes puntos de vista del rendimiento escolar en los distintos niveles educativos no universitarios, relacionándolo con aspectos tales como los logros alcanzados en conocimientos, las destrezas en las distintas áreas o asignaturas, la adquisición de valores, la formación del carácter, la creación de hábitos de estudio y trabajo, el amor por la cultura, etc.; sin obviar las dificultades o la imposibilidad de separar los efectos del aprendizaje en el aula de otros efectos más generales y difusos que se consiguen en la calle. Se pone de manifiesto la tendencia a cuantificar el rendimiento, forma inequívoca, con una gran ponderación de la calificación otorgada por el profesorado y en mucho menor medida por la determinación y el conocimiento de los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje, tratando de incidir en aspectos tales como el currículo —no solo como programación— materiales y recursos, procesos y estrategias, liderazgo, clima escolar... De manera detenida se analiza la relación biunívoca existente entre rendimiento con éxito y fracaso escolar, con la evaluación, la investigación en el aula, o con los factores psicológicos, sociológicos y pedagógicos, etc. Por último se hace un estudio comparado con los distintos países de la Unión Europea.
