Se reflexiona a partir de ejemplos relacionados con la práctica escolar sobre qué son los algoritmos con el objetivo de comprender las bases de los nuevos enfoques en aritmética. Se analiza la existencia de diferentes algoritmos asociados a una misma tarea y se cuestiona si existen algoritmos estándar para cada tarea y con qué criterios se escogen los que se utilizan en clase.
