Abstract

A partir del movimiento de la Escuela Nueva, cuando hace suyo el principio pedagógico de la actividad, comienza un camino que lleva hasta propuestas como el aprendizaje servicio (APS), que consiste en vincular en un mismo proyecto formativo actividades de aprendizaje con actividades de servicio a la comunidad. Se considera cuatro precursores de la práctica educativa que pone en juego los diferentes aspectos del principio de actividad (James, Dewey, Makarenko y Baden Powell) como antecedentes de la APS, se argumenta por qué impulsar el aprendizaje servicio y porque las prácticas de APS son una buena estrategia pedagógica para abordar la educación del siglo XXI.
