Abstract

SAFIA AL-SUHAIL, política independente e liberal eleita para a Assembleia Nacional iraquiana em Março, dizia-nos em Julho de 2010, um mês antes da retirada das tropas de combate dos Estados Unidos, que os países demoram em média nove anos a começar a estabilizar depois de uma transição como a que o Iraque atravessa. “Nove anos chegam para um país que viva em segurança e que tenha relações normais e o apoio dos países vizinhos. Nós não temos nada disso, vamos precisar de mais tempo”, defendeu Suhail.
