El espacio multinacional de países de lenguas española y portuguesa: La iberofonía1

Abstract

La lógica y la potencialidad derivadas de la afinidad sustantiva entre los dos principales idiomas ibéricos, el español y el portugués, junto a profundos y numerosos elementos de naturaleza cultural, histórica, geopolítica y cooperativa, están en la base del espacio multinacional de países de lenguas española y portuguesa ‒el llamado Espacio Panibérico o de la Iberofonía‒, que corresponde en gran medida al sumatorio de la Comunidad Iberoamericana de Naciones y la Comunidad de Países de Lengua Portuguesa. Se trata de un conjunto multinacional que en la actualidad agrupa a más de ochocientos sesenta millones de personas y una treintena de países de todos los continentes, que constituye el primer espacio lingüístico del mundo y que supera la décima parte de la población humana representando en términos ponderados la quinta parte de la superficie del Planeta. En los últimos años se han dado pasos concretos y verificables en su proceso de articulación, lo que contribuirá a dar mayor visibilidad e influencia internacional a los países iberófonos, a promover la cooperación horizontal y triangular entre Estados de América, Europa, África y Asia, y a equilibrar en términos geoculturales ‒y en benef icio de la mayor diversidad cultural y lingüística de toda la Comunidad Internacional‒ algunos aspectos y cosmovisiones homogeneizadores de la globalización en curso
