Abstract

O povo europeu é uma abstracção se procurar conferir-lhe uma unicidade antropológica, cultural ou política. A Europa de um só povo tem apenas aceitação, tratando-se de referir aqueles (quase 725 milhões) que vivem dentro do perímetro geográfico do continente europeu. A criação e consolidação da União Europeia, agora composta por 25 países, fez esquecer em parte o conceito continental, e ditou uma “nova” Europa (com cerca de 457 milhões de habitantes), na qual os termos “povo”, “cultura” e “modo de vida” não têm, igualmente, significado se utilizados no singular.
