Turismo sostenible y espacios naturales protegidos

Abstract

Según la Organización Mundial del Turismo (OMT) el 66% de los clientes que demanda turismo de naturaleza, tienen en la visita a un espacio natural protegido el principal motivo para elegir un destino. Estas sinergias entre turismo y espacios protegidos deben ser aprovechadas para avanzar hacia un turismo más respetuoso con el medio ambiente, en general, y en particular, con los recursos naturales, culturales y sociales de los lugares de destino. Algunos instrumentos pueden ayudar a los responsables de los espacios protegidos a planifi car y ordenar el turismo de forma sostenible, participada y coordinada con el sector turístico local. Entre estos instrumentos destaca la Carta Europea de Turismo Sostenible en Espacios Protegidos. La Carta nace con la voluntad de ofrecer un marco de colaboración, una herramienta útil para la gestión y creación de espacios concretos donde articular, de manera permanente, la relación entre el sector turístico y el espacio protegido.
