Primer Dismenoreli Kadınlarda Kombine Egzersiz Tedavisinin Primer Dismenore Semptomları Üzerine Etkisi

Abstract

Primary dysmenorrhea is the most common gynaecological problem in young women and adolescents. The frequency of primary dysmenorrhea varies according to different authors, the prevalance of dysmenorrhea is between 34-94%. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of combined exercise program on pain, sleep and menstrual symptoms in primary dysmenorrhea patients. Within this study, 2 groups were formed from 28 people. The mean age of 14 subjects is 22.9 ± 2.1 years in the study group The mean age of the participants in the control group was 23.1 ± 1.8 years. The severity of the pain was assessed with the Visual analogue scale (VAS), with the psychological symptoms, with the Menstrual symptom questionnarie (MSQ) and with the Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI). The evaluations were performed on the most painful day of the menstrual cycle before the study. The participants in the exercise group were given a combined exercise program 3 times a week for 2 menstrual cycle . No exercise program or intervention was administered to the control group. All of the evaluations were conducted at first and second cycles. According to the results of the second cycle comparison between groups there was a statistically significant difference between the abdominal pain severity and the total score of the MSQ and the negative effects and subheadings of the MSQ(p>0.05). There were statistically significant decreases in waist and abdominal pain in the group compared to the group (p<0.05). These decreases in pain in the abdomen was found to have started from until first cycle (p<0.05). There was a significant improvement in menstrual symptoms at the end of the study (p=0.001). There was a significant improvement in sleep quality after 2 cycle ofo exercise (p=0.001). The study showed that combined exercise therapy had positive effects on primary dysmenorrhea. These results suggest that women with primary dysmenorrhea can improve pain severity, menstrual symptoms and sleep quality with combined exercises.
